Friday Photo Dump

Heading to Chapel Hill, NC for the weekend with my in-laws and husband for a wedding.  Never been to Chapel Hill so I'm excited to get a chance to see the area.  Change of scenery is always welcome!

Other than that, I don't really have too much to post at this time.  So, thought I'd just dump share my iPhone photos with you from over the past few weeks...

Saying good-bye

Hope everyone had a great week!  HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!

5.05.2012

This week wasn't much better than last week.  I doubt it had nothing to do with my impending visit from aunt flow:-P  But, alas, it is the first warm Saturday morning in a while and I am already feeling much better.  Don't you just love waking up on mornings where it is already 65 degrees at 7?  I do!  It just makes me feel happy and hopeful.  I'm really not meant to live up north much longer.

Wednesday and Thursday nights are nights to myself because husband is in class until late.  Back in January we purchased a GoogleTV where we can browse the internet on the TV.  We have only basic cable but are now able to stream loads of shows from the shows websites or on Amazon.  Amazon introduced me to Downton Abbey (so disappointed I have to wait until Jan 2013 for another season) and I just finished watching Tudors.  My mother-in-law was also nice enough to give us her username and password to her HBOgo to watch Game of Thrones.  Since Game of Thrones is something husband and I watch together while he bikes on his trainer I was browsing the series section from the website.  And I  stumbled upon Girls.  And now I am obsessed.  Kinda like Sex and The City but I feel a more realistic take on what I would imagine living in New York City would be like.  If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.  And it's hard not to notice the great music played throughout the episodes.  Feist, Passion Pit, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, etc.

In fact I was reintroduced to a favorite of mine from the 90s - Robyn.  Do y'all remember her?

One of her recent songs was played at the end of the last episode I watched - Dancing On My Own!  So catchy and maybe my new fav.  Who doesn't love to just get up and dance when the mood strikes? (please say I'm not alone)

Oh, and Happy Cinco De Mayo! An excuse to get drunk off way too many margaritas.  But hey, I'll take it (even though I really don't need excuses).  Hoping to meet up with Jenny, my sister-in-law, for way too many margaritas at Mad Mex (if it isn't too busy) or making our own if it is too crowded.  First, husband and I get to watch a friend's baby for an hour or so while they treat themselves out to an early dinner.  Just between us, but I think husband is a little nervous:)  What are y'alls Saturday afternoon plans?

Hope everyone is having a great day!  I love weekends and wish they would NEVER end.

T. G. I. F.

What a week.  What a week.  Found out this week that one of my coworkers and good friend is being moved to a different department within the company.  While I know she will thrive in her new position I will surely miss her, as will all of us.  She was a great sounding board for the few many meltdowns I have had from feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.  But what I think I’ll miss the most are her impersonations.  Man is she good.  I know this is certainly not a “good-bye” but rather a “see ya later” it still sucks a big one for all involved (well minus the department she is moving to).
It has just been one of those weeks.  You know the ones where you just seem to not be able to get out of that funk?  Just when you think you are about to bounce back something always knocks you back down.  T. G. I. F.
The one thing that has kept me pushing through this hellish week (besides the much needed mental health day I took on Wednesday) is another trip to Ann Arbor, MI to visit my sister for her 27th birthday and her roommate.  I cannot believe my younger sisters are 27 (they are twins.  The other one lives in St. Louis, Mo with my parents and isn’t able to back to MI for celebrations.).  They will always be the stubborn little brat who wouldn’t wear anything but a pink top and jean skirt to school for a month or a climbing partner.  Apparently when they were born I rushed up to my Great Grandmother, Great-Gran we called her, who was getting off her plane screaming “Twins! Twins!”  I was 2.5 years old and supposed to keep it a secret.  Apparently I just couldn’t contain myself.  Same holds true today.  I do not have any recollection of the day they were born but have always been proud to be their big sister.  My mom tells me another story of when we were once in grocery store.  The twins were in the grocery cart in I’m assuming their carriers and I next to them while mom checked out. Apparently there was a young couple behind us in line who were not goo-ing and aww-ing over them so I boldly said, “Did y’all see them?  They are twins!”  My mom said she was always a little concerned I would get jealous of all the attention they got.  After pointing them out to complete strangers because they weren’t giving them the attention I so thought they deserved she quickly realized she had nothing to worry about.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMBAM AND LIS!  Lis – look forward to celebrating with you in a few hours!  Cam – look forward to celebrating with you in Ireland and Scotland in a few weeks!

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

Beautiful Skies

I love the sky. Sunrise, day time, cloudy, sunny, sunset, whenever.  It is always changing and it is often a reminder to me that no matter what life goes on even though I sometimes I wish time would slow down just a little.  Our deck out back is one my favorite places to watch the sunset.  Being that it is winter and all I haven't really been outside to catch many recent sunsets.  This past week, on Monday I believe, I was doing the dishes and happened to look up to see the most gorgeous sunset I have seen in a while.

I love the clouds and the color contrast from yellowish orange to blue.

As soon as Chris got home, I asked him if he had seen the sunset at all?  He had and said it reminded him of Independence Day.  Haha.  Do you know what I'm talking about?  You know when the alien's space ship comes through the clouds/smoke?  Yes?

Just in case here's a little video for those of you who need a little reminder (around minute 1:19).

(And I totally forgot about Jamie Lee Curtis' cameo!  "I hope they bring back Elvis!")

I work from 7:30-3:30 so I need to leave my house around 7:15.  As anyone who knows Beaver County and the Ohio River Boulevard (I know Jocey knows what I'm talking about) knows it is not the most scenic commute.  Mostly industrial.  To add to that, I am driving with the sun behind me.  But, If I look in my review mirror I sometimes I get a glimpse of the rising sun.

However, there is a positive (there is always a positive if you look long enough) to my commute deeper into Beaver County!  Living in the City of Bridges I am surrounded by bridges on my commute and love the reflections of the bridges on the river.  Especially on a cold cold winter day when the water is so calm that it almost looks like glass.  This morning I left the house a little early and was able to detour into Rochester for a quick photo session with the rising sun.  I love the colors.

One of my favorite things about photographing the sky is that is never the same.  A gorgeous sunset or sunrise can really really humble you.

Do you have a favorite time to photograph?  Do you prefer sunsets over sunrises or vice versa?

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  I have a photo shoot tomorrow morning in Cleveland with an adorable one month old baby girl (I mean why else would I go to Cleveland?)! Can.  Not.  Wait.
