Since getting into photography I have always wanted to sell my photos.  For a while I dabbled in portrait photography but quickly realized that wasn't the route I wanted to take.  I thought it would be easy and quick money.  Boy, I could not have been more wrong.  

Adding my photos to Etsy has been something I have been doing on and off for the past few years.  I have not been as successful as I had thought I would be.  I just assumed I would add photos to my shop, people would see them and love them, and buy them.  I mean, that would be the easiest and most comfortable way, right?  

I quickly realized I needed to whore myself out advertise and sell my works myself.  I wasn't ready to yet so I kept putting it off and putting it off - I doubt it had anything do with my shy, Type B nature {insert sarcastic look here}.  It was not until recently that I started to really research and consume any information on how to sell on Etsy.  I know I still have loads and loads and LOADS to learn but I am pretty confident in where I am starting. 

So, today, I would like to share with all of you - my fabulous and wonderfully beautiful readers - what I have added so far.

Like I said, I still have so much to learn.  Pricing? Descriptions? Advertising? Shipping?  So much. I am all ears, y'all!  Do you have any suggestions on books or online resources I can turn to to help?

I will...

While waiting for the husband to get out of yoga yesterday, I sat in my car with the windows down, Dave Matthews blaring through the stereo, and all was right in the world.  What is it about this time of year that makes me feel so nostalgic for my younger days?  Am I alone? please tell me I am not alone. 

LAST WEEK'S GOALS:

I will... keep to my scheduled running program.  ever day but one.  

I will... upload photos to Society6.  I uploaded the one above.  Click here to check it out. 

I will... not go over 30 grams of sugar or 60 grams of carbs.  I admit I cheated twice this week but my hard work showed from the rest of my week once I got on the scale and saw I lost a little over 3lbs!

I will... use the Canon. accomplished.  beginning to feel inspired again. 

I will... take photos for littlest girlfriend's 2nd birthday present.  nada.  and i still don't have a gift for her.  any ideas for a 2 year old girl who already has pretty everything?

THIS WEEK'S GOALS: 

I will... continue to add photos to my shop.  In fact, I would like to start sharing them with you all more often.  I'll be sure to let you know when I do. 

I will... stick to my 13.1 training.  

I will... stick to eating low carb and sugar.  My goal weight is 4 more lbs and I'll be happy.  

I will... journal 3 times this week.  It is something I have been wanting to do and no longer want to make "wait until I get a polaroid" excuse to do so.  (unless you want to buy me a polaroid?)

Today I would like to share with you all some of my favorite pieces from my shop at Society6.  In case you haven't heard of them yet, Society6 is a website where artists from around the world can upload and sell their work.  It's similar to Etsy in that it is a website to sell your work.  The difference is that Society6 does everything for you, the packaging, printing, framing, etc, etc.  The down side is that you do not get a very big cut.  Since I haven't really figured out Etsy yet and how to sell my own work for full profit, Society6 has been great.  

^^This print is my biggest seller so far.  There must be a lot 'Burghers visiting the site. 

I have loads more on the site if you are interested in checking more of my photos out.  They are always offering specials.  There are so many talented people out there too so if you are looking for a unique gift idea for someone in your life who enjoys good art, I recommend giving the site a chance.

time off

Oh hey, July!  Where did you come from?  I have one favor to ask of you.  Please, pretty pretty please, do not go as fast as June went.  Much appreciated.  Thanks!

Anyway, I know I haven't been posting my recap of our California adventures like I said I would.  I haven't been in the mood.  Plain and simple.  Please do not take offense to that.  I haven't been in the mood for much these days except for reading, chillin' poolside, and drinking a gin & soda.  Preferably all three at the same time if I can help it.  

With that being said, I would like to take the month of July off from blogging.  Don't worry, I'll still be stalking all of you in the mean time.  I just need to take some time off to collect my thought, perhaps figure out where I want this here blog to go and focus more on my photography and re-open my Etsy shop.  I have a lot to look forward to this month and hopefully re-cap those moments along with my Cali adventure posts when I return in August.  I just didn't want to disappear on y'all.  I mean I would really hate to end up one of those missing persons signs or news segments when all I needed was some time off.  Because we obviously know y'all all would so very worried hehe. I hope you do decide to stick around and not give up on me quite yet.  I really have been surprised by how much I have enjoyed blogging on the regular for the last 6 months so I have every intention of returning.  Hopefully with a lot more to say and photos for your viewing pleasure.

Scotland Day 5

I have decided to take advantage of the time husband is distracted by the first Penn State game of the year to share with you photos of our 5th day in Scotland.  

We got back from Oban (posts here, here and here) around 9 and headed straight to the flat to sleep to only get up early the next morning to check out Luss, Loch Lomond with the whole crew - K, Simon, Barry, Cameron, Melissa and I.  The bus trip to Luss was beautiful.  Beautiful countryside is a great distraction from a bus filled with stale air and my feeling car sick (luckily it was only an hour drive).  

 

Our reason for heading to Luss, Loch Lomond was a Groupon Melissa found for an hour speed boat tour on the lake.  The town of Luss is absolutely adorable!  Cute little shops with different types of Tartan for sale.  It's official, I am now obsessed with Tartan.  I bought an adorable tartan dress/skirt for a friend's little girl.  How cute is that?!

While we waited for our boat tour to begin I walked around - almost getting blown over - and got some photos of the lake with the beautiful hills in the background.  Of course it was overcast and chilly so the photos don't really do the scenery justice.  

The boat tour was so much fun and our guide was awesome!  Scottish accents just make a man talking sound so much more interesting.  Cameron, Melissa, and I (and Barry a little later) were smart enough to sit in the back of the boat away from the wind and water sprays.  Simon and K ended up getting soaked.  We just laughed from the back.  

hehehe 

Here is one of (if not the) the most expensive golf clubs in Scotland.  Something like 150,000 pounds to join and annual fee of 50,000 pounds.  Insane.  Bill Clintion and Clint Eastwood are some of the celebrities who belong.  Didn't see anyone though.  Bummer. 

Heading back to Luss

While we dried off we walked around looking for a place to grab lunch and came across these guys:

"You can't tell but I'm mooning you guys" - if you get this reference you are my new favorite person!

We waited and waited and waited and waited (because service in Scotland is absolute shit - they don't work for tips) for our lunch.  Luckily we had a lovely view. 

After what took us like 2.5 hours at lunch we grabbed some yummy ice cream and headed back to the bus stop to grab a ride back to Glasgow

Of course the sun comes out as we head home!

Scotland Day 4/Oban Day 2

I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted about my trip to Scotland and Ireland.  I wish I could say I've been busy.  I have had the case of the lazies recently.  Anyway, like I mentioned before we spent 2 days in the beautiful harbor town of Oban.  We knew we wanted to head back to Isle of Kerrera for some more hiking so we got a relatively early start (with a nutritious breakfast of waffles and ice cream!) and decided to first head a little north on our bikes to check out the museum at House at Dunollie where the servants to MacDougall Clan (does that name sound familiar?) lived and The Castle of Dunollie where the MacDougall's lived.

On our way back to Isle of Kerrera we stopped by this beach to check out some rocks and pick up some sand.  Luckily the sun came out for our second day trek a little later! 

We finally made it back to Isle of Kerrera.  Again, we got there a little later then we had hoped so we were not able to go as far as we had originally planned - this time we had a train to catch back to Glasgow.  We were so lucky to get sun on the days we planned to spend the most time outdoors.

As I may have mentioned before (I can't remember) K had been in Scotland for the past year to get her Masters in Brewing & Distilling Beer at Edinburgh University.  How cool is that?!?!  Since Oban has it's own distillery, K really wanted to tour it - which came with a complimentary scotch tasting and glass.  Cam and I were a little museum-ed/tour-ed out so we enjoyed a late lunch and beautiful scenery while Melissa and K toured the Distillery.  

Did you know that Whisky is called Scotch only when it's made in Scotland?  

Melissa and K enjoyed the Oban Distillery tour.  We had some more time to waste so we grabbed dinner and a drink before heading back on the train to Glasgow.  

Oban was beautiful and everything I imagined it would be.  I would definitely like to go back one day and spend more time touring the area.  Truly breathtaking.  

I recently discovered more photos of my trip that I thought I lost so I am excited to go through them and share them as well.
