scenes from the weekend

We ventured to Cleveland, OH in hopes of a buying me a used car.  The used car didn't work out but luckily I have family who live in the area so we stayed the night with them.  Went spent Saturday night catching up, eating Mexican, and drinking a few glasses of wine.  Wouldn't ask for a better way to spend my Saturday night.

We woke up to a familiar site, snow.  Even though I am awfully sick of snow, it sure is beautiful.  After an amazing breakfast (with grits) and lunch, the husband and I headed down to the very frozen Lake Erie for a few photos.  Unfortunately, neither one of us were appropriately dressed for more than 10 minutes of walking on the frozen lake.  It sure was incredible though.

see, inappropriately dressed.

you can't even tell where the lake stops and the sky begins.

these steps were much easier to get up than they were to get down.

a welcomed indication we are about to cross into PA.

It was such a nice night to be with family.  I am very lucky to have family so close by.

How was your weekend?
What's your weather like?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Yay!  It's Sunday!  And do you know what that means - well besides another Scavenger Hunt Sunday?!  New Dexter and Walking Dead episodes.  WOOT WOOT!

We had a nice and quiet week.  We opted out of going out on Thanksgiving Eve and were very much thankful we didn't.  No hangovers this year on Thanksgiving.  That is always nice.  Instead of being miserable we got up at a decent hour, ate breakfast with the Macy's Day Parade on in the background, went for a run then hung out at husband's parents' house until dinner at his Nonna and Pop Pop's at 6.  Which was followed by - as always - very interesting post dinner conversations.  But that's for a whole new post.

Anywayyyyyyyyy (said in Ellen's voice), on to this week's prompts: Home or Thankful, In the Kitchen, Couple, Bubbles, and Trees.

1) Bubbles.
This is one of the little girls I nanny for, Elizabeth.  Family and close friends call her Bits but I like to call her Bubbles as she is constantly blowing bubbles.  Isn't she adorable?!

 2) Couple.
Here is Bubbles' older sister Annabel with her cousin on Wednesday.  Pittsburgh had great weather this week so I made sure to get the kiddos out for some fresh air until it really starts to get cold.  Just a couple of kids hanging out.

3) In the Kitchen.
Most mornings begin with a cup of tea.  This morning was no different.

 4) Thankful or Home.
After being in the 50s and even getting to the 60s on Thursday, Pittsburgh had it's first snow yesterday.  I love the first snow.  As much as I hate the cold I am thankful snow helps me to appreciate the cold - it can be so beautiful.

5) Trees.
Husband and I went on a small walk Monday morning through North Park.  I love the what is left of Fall foliage in the above photo with the house in the background and the reflection of the trees and boathouse in the bottom photo.  I couldn't choose just one to share.  Can you believe these were taken with my iPhone 4 using Instagram?

Hope everyone had a great week and an even better Thanksgiving full of love and delicious food!  Cheers to a new week and the beginning of one my favorite times of the year!

Snowy Monday

I know I've been saying it has been rather mild Winter but in true Pittsburgh fashion, March decided that we hadn't had enough snow this year so she decided to dump a bunch on Monday.  Personally, I am rather sick of the bare trees so the snow was a beautiful change of scenery.  I was a little early heading into work Monday morning so I pulled over to one of my favorite spots about a block from where I work to capture these snowy photos.  Which one is your favorite?

Pretty crazy to think this was Pittsburgh's Monday considering I just got in from spending an hour out back on the hammock!  The one nice thing about snow in March is that it does not last long:)

Playtime

A few weeks ago Pittsburgh got some snow that actually stuck to the ground.  As with most Sundays, Chris and I headed over to his parents' in Sewickley.  The human Cornmans weren't there but we were greeted with the canine Cornmans (with the new addition barking in the distance) that always put a smile on my face.  With my camera in tow I let them out to play in the snow covered back yard.

This is Ziva, the new addition to the canine Cornman family.  Can you tell she is a shit starter?

This is Sammy.  Ziva likes to give him a hard time.

And this is Jack.  He is the sweet one.

See?  Ziva shit starting.
Thought this one was sweet.
It looks like I just told Jack something and he thinks it is just HILARIOUS.
Ziva playing/annoying Sammy
Reconvening to discuss what their next plan of action is.
Patiently waiting for their treats.  Ziva has learned this routine pretty quickly.
Now can you see why the Cornmans greeting committee brings a smile to my face each time I go over there?

Friday Photo Dump

A few weeks ago I was reading the different blogs I follow and found a nice idea to get rid of photos from my iPhone:  Friday Photo Dump.  I first saw it on Our Life In A Click's blog and fell in love with the idea.  I take SO many photos and videos with my phone and have been needing a reason to delete them from phone.  I am so sick of getting that annoying "there is no more space on your phone for ANOTHER photo" message when I go to take a photo that I am so sure, at least in that moment, I will never get another chance to capture.  Sound familiar?

Here's this week's Friday Photo Dump:

I used Picnik to make this collage.

Happy Friday everyone!  Any fun plans this weekend?  For those of you who are in the part of the country that have gotten, or are predicted to get, snow you should bundle up, go outside and take some photos of what you see!  Snowy scenes are one of my favorite things to photograph.  Just sayin' ;)
