destination dreaming: portland, me | travel tuesday

My Dad has been sending me emails with links to beautiful photos of Fall in the Northeast from USA Today recently.  It's pretty cute.  He got me my first big camera so he knows how much I appreciate it. I have always wanted to hop in my car and spend a week or two - giving myself time to stop and capture the beauty of course - driving up the East coast in October.  The links he has been sending me only increase that desire.

Give me a cup of coffee surrounded by nature and I'll be happy.  I mean with views like this one how could I not be?!

Have you ever been to Maine?
Have you ever driven up the East coast in October?

destination dreaming: amsterdam | travel tuesday

Amsterdam is a place I have wanted to see for a while but after seeing Casey's Instagram feed from her recent trip there makes me want to plan a trip there next Fall.  Vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds lining the city's canals with a coffee and my camera in hand sound like a great way to breath in the fresh Fall air.

Ever since the husband and I have been watching Vikings, I have been wanting to explore the Nordic countries.  With views of the Northern Lights and Right Of Access allowing you to camp on any open land, how could I not want to explore such a beautiful place?

Have you ever been to Norway?
Where are you wanting to go right now?

destination dreaming: peru | travel tuesday

Every day now and then I like to check out Kayak Explore (thanks Rachel) to see where in the world I could travel at the price I want to pay.  When I searched the other day, there were flights to Peru starting at $667.  The only thing holding me back, besides having the actual funds to go, are the dates available to travel at this price.  The husband and I have a pretty flexible schedule but if we don't work, we don't get paid.  Until I do get there, I will be dreaming of the beaches, bright colored handmade crafts in the markets, and taking in the views from atop Machu Picchu.

On Saturday I booked a long weekend with the husband to Asheville, NC over Memorial Day weekend.  Now that we both have reliable cars, we had to buy 2 new cars within a month of each other, we both knew we wanted Asheville to be the destination of our first 2014 road trip.  I booked our 3 night stay through Airbnb and found this place that boasts of beautiful views of the mountains from the screened in porch while swinging from hammocks and only a 10 minute drive from downtown.  That price and location was too perfect of a fit for the husband and I to pass up.  We spent a little time last night researching things to do.  We both agreed Biltmore Estates and Blue Ridge Parkway are must sees but are obviously open to suggestions.  We are pretty excited for our long weekend and to have something to look forward to.

Have you ever visited Asheville?
If so, what are your recommendations?
